Texas A&M University-San Antonio is gearing up for a spectacular event as it prepares to host the Fall 2023 Commencement at the Freeman Coliseum. This momentous occasion marks the culmination of hard work, dedication, and academic achievement for over 700 graduates, and the University is excited to honor their exceptional accomplishments.

Behind the Scenes

The meticulous planning for this celebration has been underway for weeks. With a dedicated team of organizers and volunteers made up of faculty, staff and students working tirelessly behind the scenes, it takes more than 160 hours and the collaboration of over 100 volunteers to transform the Freeman Coliseum into a stage fit for this academic milestone. From setting up the stage to handing out the diploma covers and arranging the flowers, every detail is carefully planned to ensure a seamless and unforgettable experience for graduates and attendees alike.

What the Grads Are Wearing

Graduates will cross the stage adorned in the official University regalia, including the cap, gown and stoles, which serve not only as the prestigious attire but as a symbol of the graduates’ achievements. Each graduate will wear a tassel coordinated with their college, reflecting their academic achievement. Graduate caps become a canvas for personal expression. Graduates decorate them with motivational quotes, inside jokes, family memorabilia and individual milestones, showcasing the diversity and creativity of the graduating class.

The Culmination of Celebration

As each ceremony concludes, A&M-San Antonio Mariachi Los Jaguares del Sur, will perform as balloons and confetti rain down upon the graduates marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.  But the celebration doesn’t stop there. A&M-San Antonio has a special treat in store for its graduates—a glow-in-the-dark party to cap off the festivities and illuminate the graduates as they take their first steps toward their future.
