The annual Jaguar Classic athletic scholarship golf tournament returned to the Golf Club of Texas on Friday, Sept. 18, bringing together alumni, supporters, community partners and Jaguar Athletics for a day of competition, camaraderie and philanthropy.
The 2026 Jaguar Classic presented by Herff Jones, despite bouts of rain, raised nearly $100,000 to support student-athlete scholarships and Jaguar Athletics.
While rain delayed play early in the day, participants made the most of the unexpected break by hearing directly from Jaguar Athletics coaches during an impromptu panel discussion. The informal conversation gave attendees a unique opportunity to learn more about the student-athlete experience and the program's future. During the discussion, coaches expressed their gratitude for the support of student-athlete scholarships and encouraged attendees to continue supporting Jaguar Athletics by attending games throughout the year.
“We are grateful to our community for coming together to support our student-athletes,” said A&M-San Antonio President Salvador Hector Ochoa. “The generosity of supporters like those who came out, even in the rain, is creating opportunities for our Jaguars. We are excited to see what the future holds for Jaguar Athletics.”
Participants had an opportunity to play alongside Jaguar student-athletes and experience a helicopter ball drop with a chance to win a tank driving experience. Alumnus Blaine Beckman was the lucky winner of the golf ball drop. Beckman, president of South Side-based Nunnelly General Contractor, earned his bachelor’s degree in business management in 2015 and his MBA in 2017 from A&M-San Antonio and has been an avid supporter of the University and Jaguar Athletics.
This year’s fundraising success was made possible through the generous support of our sponsors. Their contributions helped provide scholarships and resources that support Jaguar student-athletes as they pursue their academic and athletic goals.
