Texas A&M University–San Antonio Introduces “Maria” as Virtual Engagement Officer

Texas A&M University–San Antonio is excited to introduce Maria, the University’s new Virtual Engagement Officer (VEO), a role designed to strengthen outreach, connection, and engagement with students, alumni, donors, and community partners through innovative virtual communication.

The Virtual Engagement Officer, known as “Maria,” is named in honor of the University’s first president, Dr. Maria Ferrier, whose leadership laid the foundation for the institution’s mission of access, service, and community impact.

In her role, Maria will serve as a point of connection for prospective students, families, alumni, and friends of the University through personalized virtual outreach, powered by Givzey’s Virtual Engagement Officer platform. The role supports the University’s commitment to increasing accessibility, enhancing communication, and strengthening engagement across its community.

Welcome Maria“Texas A&M University–San Antonio is committed to engaging our students, alumni, and friends through a variety of flexible communication channels,” said Gwen Notestine, vice president for University Advancement. “Givzey’s VEO offers another innovative platform for connection with those who share our vision to advance the mission of A&M–San Antonio through a culture of philanthropy.”

The Virtual Engagement Officer role is part of the University’s ongoing efforts to expand access, improve communication, and foster stronger relationships with its students, alumni, and supporters.
