Condolences and Resources After Death of Student

Dear University Community,

It is with deep sadness that I write to you to share the news of the death of one of our undergraduate students.

Our hearts go out to their family, friends and classmates as they cope with their tremendous heartbreak and grief. As the details of the student’s death are deeply personal to their family, I hope that you understand the importance of honoring their privacy during this time, and that we as a community can come together in support, reflection, and care.

As we respect the family's privacy, I know that we all wish to convey our heartfelt condolences as a community. The University is working to support the family and closest friends of the student and those directly impacted, including our students and employees.

We ask that you keep this student, their family, and all affected in your thoughts in the coming days as we join them in mourning the tragic loss of a member of our Jaguar family.

I know that this news may be difficult and emotional for many. If you or someone you know is struggling, please remember that it is okay to ask for help. In honor of this student’s memory we will light our dome and tower yellow starting tonight, Nov. 13, 2025, through the weekend.

During this terribly difficult time, I know we are all filled with compassion and sympathy for our entire community. Together, may we find comfort in community, strength in shared memories, and hope in the days ahead. Now is when we need our community the most; seek out and continue to support one another as we work through this difficult time.
