Texas A&M University–San Antonio women’s basketball team will face the University of Texas at San Antonio in an exhibition matchup Saturday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m. at the Convocation Center. The contest marks a milestone for A&M–San Antonio as the Jaguars test their skills against a local NCAA Division I program.
The Jaguars are coming off an impressive 2024–25 campaign, finishing fourth in both the Red River Athletic Conference regular-season standings and the conference tournament. The team posted an 18-12 overall record, including a strong 14-10 mark in conference play.
Leading the charge were standout guards Evelyn Lorenzo, who earned first-team all-conference honors, and senior guard Natalia Treviño, who was named first-team all-conference, RRAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, RRAC All-Tournament Team, and All-American.
This matchup marks the first time the two San Antonio state universities will face off in women’s basketball, giving fans a one-of-a-kind showdown that highlights the continued growth of the sport in San Antonio.
“This is a history-making moment for San Antonio and A&M–San Antonio,” said Dr. Darnell Smith, director of athletics. “For the first time, two state university programs from our city will meet on the court — a powerful showcase of the talent, growth and pride of our state and city. Facing an established NCAA Division I program like UTSA reflects the growth of our team and highlights the excitement surrounding women’s basketball in the Alamo City.”
The Jaguars will officially open their 2025–26 regular season on October 31, hitting the road to face the No. 21-ranked University of Providence following their exhibition matchup. A&M–San Antonio looks to build on last season’s momentum and make a strong statement in conference play. Full schedules and game times are available at TAMUSASports.com.
