Weeks of Welcome (WOW), Texas A&M University–San Antonio’s signature back-to-school celebration, wraps up this Saturday, Sept. 13, after a flurry of activities welcoming students to campus for the fall semester.
The University has been buzzing with energy as new and returning Jaguars enjoyed more than 50 events—from the Penny Social on the Madla Lawn, featuring music, food, and games, to job fairs, block parties, giveaways, the popular Disglow Paint Rave, and a distinguished lecture series featuring actress Diane Guerrero from Orange is the New Black.
Emily Banda, director of Student Life, said this year’s WOW surpassed expectations, with record turnout at the involvement fair and part-time job fair. A new addition, WOW! Bingo, drew more than 200 participants who competed for prizes such as home essentials, grocery store gift cards, and emergency car kits. Banda said this year’s theme, “Hello, Jaguar!”, set the tone for the excitement.
“The success of Weeks of Welcome highlights everyone's efforts to create a vibrant and welcoming campus environment,” Banda said. “The Office of Student Life is proud to lead these efforts and shape the vision for what WOW has become. We’re excited for it to continue growing and to provide even more opportunities for students to engage with campus resources and connect with their peers.”
