JagX Orientation Program Prepares Incoming Students for Success

Texas A&M University-San Antonio is thrilled to once again host JagX, the University’s orientation program designed to prepare first-year students for the exciting college experience ahead. Scheduled from Sunday, Aug. 17, to Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025, JagX plays a crucial role in welcoming students and equipping them with essential skills and knowledge for academic and personal success. 

JagX is an immersive introduction to university life, culture and expectations. Through a variety of engaging activities, new students will connect with fellow Jaguars, faculty, staff and student leaders while learning about the professional, intellectual and life skills needed to thrive in college and beyond.

Key activities at JagX for first-year students include: 

  • - Meeting their Jaguar Class and fellow new students 
  • - Connecting with student leaders who serve as mentors and guides 
  • - Participating in cherished A&M-San Antonio traditions 
  • - Interacting with University athletes and campus organizations 
  • - Discovering their personal strengths through self-assessment 
  • - Competing in a fun and friendly class competition 
  • - Planning a community service project to give back 
  • - Taking part in the signature Jaguar March celebration 
  • - Learning about financial literacy and budgeting 
  • - Attending a mock college class to experience academic expectations firsthand

  • University officials emphasize that JagX is a critical piece in the success of all incoming first-year students. Participation in the full program ensures students maintain enrollment eligibility for the upcoming semester. 

“JagX is designed to empower our new Jaguars with the tools, connections and confidence they need to succeed from day one,” said Juan Guardia, vice president for student affairs. “This experience fosters a sense of belonging, engagement and prepares students for a rewarding University journey.”
