Texas A&M University-San Antonio has selected Adriana Rojas as the new Vice President for Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer. Her new role at A&M-San Antonio begins July 14.
Rojas currently serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Auxiliaries and Fiscal Innovation at the University of California, Merced, a position she has held since June 2023.
“This is a critical role for our university, and we are proud to welcome Ms. Rojas into the Jaguar family,” said Salvador Hector Ochoa, president of A&M-San Antonio. “She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, having overseen significant budgets and stabilized operational units throughout her career. She has a strategically focused mindset and a clear vision. I’m excited to welcome her back to Texas.”
During her tenure at UC Merced, Rojas managed a portfolio of nine departments with a total budget of $85 million, which included serving over 4,100 residential students. She oversaw areas including housing, dining, vending, and retail contracts. Rojas has a track record of creating strong foundations for institutions and enhancing the work culture for her teams.
Prior to joining UC Merced, Rojas served in various roles at the University of Texas at Austin for nearly 25 years. She has broad experience based on her time at UT, having worked in a variety of roles across the campus in central business departments, service units and auxiliary portfolios. Her experience leading business functions across an institution gives her a comprehensive understanding of the financial and operational dynamics that drive a university’s success.
“I see this role as an opportunity where my past meets my future. I was born and raised in San Antonio, 15 minutes north of the campus and I went to A&M in College Station. To have the opportunity to serve A&M–San Antonio is deeply personal,” shared Rojas. “I am excited to be able to serve the Jaguar family, it is an opportunity to give back to the System and the community who helped shape me.”
Her educational background includes an executive master’s in public leadership/public affairs from UT Austin and a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accounting) from Texas A&M University.
In her new role, Rojas will oversee finance, facilities, and the administrative operations of A&M-San Antonio and serve as a key partner on the president’s cabinet. She will be responsible for management and oversight of business and financial affairs, including the execution of the university’s budget, implementing fiscal policies and regulations, and supporting a high-quality service orientation in the Division of Business Affairs.
