University Voted Top Local University in YourSA Readers’ Choice Awards

For the second year in a row, Texas A&M University-San Antonio was voted the Best Local University in the annual YourSA Readers’ Choice Awards.

Hosted by the San Antonio Express-News, this year’s awards received a record number of votes, according to the YourSA publication. In addition to education, the awards recognized winners in a number of categories, including business, community, restaurants, and health. They state that the community-powered recognition program honors the entrepreneurs and organizations that make our city shine, and YourSA is a tribute to those that shape our culture and strengthen our economy.

“Our growth and evolution reflect the University’s ongoing dedication to the San Antonio community and beyond,” said President Salvador Hector Ochoa. “We are proud to offer our student body unique opportunities to achieve their academic dreams and forge successful futures. I’d like to personally thank everyone who voted for their support. It is very gratifying to see the University receive this recognition, which is a testament to our hard-working faculty, staff, and students.”

A&M-San Antonio continues to garner accolades as it experiences record-breaking enrollment and campus growth, with some six new academic and student facilities either recently completed or under development. Nearly 75 percent of the student population at A&M-San Antonio are from Bexar County, with 30 states, Puerto Rico, and 24 countries also represented. The University is working to roll out new academic programs designed to meet the region’s changing workforce needs.

The University also recently broke ground on Educare San Antonio a new facility, and the first Educare school in Texas, which will offer early learning and family support. The building is slated to open in the summer of 2026.

This recognition reinforces Texas A&M University-San Antonio’s commitment to excellence, proving that when a community comes together, extraordinary things happen. For us, it is more than just words—it’s a promise kept.
