University Celebrates Inaugural Spring Homecoming

Texas A&M University-San Antonio has wrapped up its first-ever Homecoming celebration, held February 16-22, 2025. A week of spirited festivities with the theme "Deep in the Heart of Texas," the event marked the beginning of a new annual tradition for the Jaguar community.

“Homecoming was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate A&M-San Antonio’s history and future, “said Juan Guardia, vice president for student affairs. “I appreciate all the dedication and teamwork that went into making this special event, which is already well on its way to becoming an established and beloved campus tradition.”

The celebration kicked off with Spirit Board Decorating and a thrilling women's softball game on Feb. 16, where the Jaguars triumphed over Hardin Simmons University with an 8-3 victory at St. Mary’s University. Throughout the week, students engaged in engaging events, including the Jaguar Round-Up, Cowboy Hat Decorating, Saddle Up Relay, and Texas Trivia. One of the week’s highlights was Domecoming, a community-wide festival on Friday night that featured live music, food trucks, a pep rally, and fireworks.

One of Homecoming’s most anticipated competitions was the Chili Cook-Off, where teams battled for the best tasting chili. The winners were:

     · 1st Place: Student Government Association

     · 2nd Place: Budgets Team and Student Business Services

     · 3rd Place: University Police Department

On Saturday, the excitement continued with the Jaguar Den Tailgate, followed by the women’s basketball team earning a 76-66 victory over Paul Quinn College.

During halftime of the women's game, Jaguar Royalty was crowned. The 2025 A&M-SA Royals are:

     · Royals: Janet Zulu and Chloe Bruno

     · Royal Court: Jesse Kelly, Jenifer Garcia, Rebekah Sanchez, Alyssa Garcia

Additionally, Homecoming competition winners were awarded for their outstanding participation in various events throughout the week. Competing teams made up of faculty, staff and students accumulated points by engaging in the homecoming activities. Homecoming competition winners were announced:
