University Celebrates Inaugural Homecoming

The week-long event will unite students, faculty, staff, and alumni

Texas A&M University-San Antonio is excited to kick off a new tradition with its first-ever Homecoming from Feb. 16-22, 2025. Featuring a full lineup of special events and festivities, the week-long celebration will unite the campus community with Jaguar spirit and pride for a history-making event.

From softball and basketball games to fun competitions and tasty food, Homecoming will bring together students, faculty, staff, and alumni like never before. As the University continues to experience record enrollment and launch new campus facilities, this first-of-its-kind event will help set the tone for years to come.

Homecoming 2025 Logo“Homecoming is an opportunity to deepen campus connections,” said Emily Banda, director of the Office of Student Life, which organized the week of events. Banda said key University representatives and partners helped plan Homecoming, most notably the seven-person student committee.

“They were really the trailblazers in conceptualizing the theme and developing the events and competitions,” she said.

With an inaugural theme of “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and the slogan Home is Where the Dome is, some of Homecoming’s highlights include Domecoming on Friday, Feb. 21. This community-wide event will include live music, food trucks, a pep rally, kids’ games and rides, and a fireworks show.

On the final day of Homecoming, Saturday, Feb. 22, there will be a tailgate party with food, music, and good times. This will be followed by the women’s and men’s basketball games, during which there will be a halftime royalty crowing ceremony, recognizing students who embody the spirit of the Jaguar while striving for the highest academic achievement, campus involvement, and community service.

The entire A&M-San Antonio community is invited to join in the festivities. This is a unique opportunity for alumni to join their alma mater to be a part of the very first homecoming event.

“It's a week where memories will be made,” said Juan Guardia, vice president for student affairs. “Being able to set the foundation for what will one day be an established campus tradition is really special. We’re celebrating both the history of A&M-San Antonio and its future.”
